The Art World Experienced Virtually

Our Visual Artwork editor Rosalind provides a list of virtual museum collections to help inspire us in these scary times…

During these uncertain times, we are seeing many shops, clubs, theatres and universities closing as increasingly more countries announce lockdowns. It is a time like none other before but through all this uncertainty we are seeing online communities and institutions creatively providing virtual content for those who aren’t able to freely explore the way we used to.

Here is a list of some of the many galleries who have shifted to becoming virtual and are providing online visuals to tide us over until the world becomes normal again :

Guggenheim Museum, New York

Musée d’Orsay, Paris

Uffizi Gallery, Florence

National Gallery, London

Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam

Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam

British Museum, London

In a time like this, we need art more than ever. It provides an escape, inspires and encourages us. I thank the creative teams behind each virtual tour for providing a way to feel more normal and I also celebrate the creatives I know personally, who continue to work and make art for an ever growing audience to enjoy.
